In a 5-6 page essay, answer the question below.
Your answers should specifically address the essay prompt. Responses should develop a clear and coherent argument and marshal evidence from both lecture and reading material to support your central claim. Make sure that you draw from at least ONE primary document of the Chicana/o movement, and ONE secondary text as part of your textual evidence. Examples of these primary documents include El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan and El Plan de Santa Barbara, both of which are up on the course website. You may also draw from the Munoz reading as part of your secondary sources. In addition, make sure that your papers do not simply summarize these materials, but that you critically evaluate the sources and arguments. Use specific examples to substantiate your claims whenever appropriate.
1. The Chicana/o Movement (El Movimiento) encompassed a wide range of issues that were part of the historical legacies of the continued colonization of the Northern Mexican territories. Discuss TWO central issues of the Chicana/o Movement and explain why were they important for achieving Chicana/o empowerment. Excellent responses will also discuss the continued relevance of these issues today.
Your paper should be 5 pages minimum and 6 pages maximum, doubled-spaced, with 1 margins and Times New Roman, 12-point font. Make sure to use proper citations and references in your paper according to APA or Chicago style. You can choose whichever one you prefer as long as you are consistent.
