4) Discuss the typical medieval manor. How did it function? Why were they established in the first place? What role did each member of the society play? What were the various parts of the manor? What technical and agricultural developments helped manors to succeed?
5) Discuss the four major Crusades. What prompted the beginning of the Crusades? Which parties were involved? Who were some of the important figures? What were the major events and outcomes of the four major Crusades? In what way did both religious AND secular causes drive the Crusades? (While you may find it helpful as a way to remember details for your answer, please limit your discussion to the actual events rather than the so-called “Jaws Rule”.)
