Discuss the pathophysiology of a disorder covered in your textbook.

Discuss the pathophysiology of a disorder covered in your textbook. We may or may not have covered this disorder in class. I have assigned you a disease. If there is an unassigned disease that you would prefer from the list- you may take it after asking me if it is still available. You may not have the same disease as another student.

The following sections must be included in your discussion.
I. Part I Pathophysiology of Disorder / Disease
a. Incidents/Risk factors
b. Pathophysiology / Pathogenesis
c. Clinical Manifestations
i. Discuss why you see these signs and symptoms <-- d. Diagnostics i. What tests and results do you expect to see? <-- e. Treatment i. Surgical (include invasive and non-invasive procedures) ii. Medical (include medications) f. Conclusion II. Part 2 Reflection a. Application to Nursing i. How is understanding pathophysiology applicable to your clinical practice as a student and a future practicing nurse? Paper Requirements 1. Length of paper is 3-5 pages double spaced (excluding title page and references). 2. Use APA format (font, spacing, margins, headers, citations, references, etc.). 3. Must include the use of one scholarly journal article from a reputable nursing or medical journal (found in CINAHL, OVID, etc.). Websites such as webmd.com or up-to-date do not count as a scholarly resource. Please discuss with me if you need more clarification on the definition of a scholarly resource. 4. Turned in at class by May 2 (5 points will be deducted for every day late). 5. MAKE SURE you cover all the information requested. I have highlighted above two commonly missed areas. If you just include the signs and symptoms but not why they have them you won't get full points. 6. This optional paper will replace the lowest of your first three exam scores. Source 1: Please reference book for pathophysiology section. I have uploaded the pdf version of our textbook. Ischemic stroke is covered on pages 1106-1120. Source 2: Choose from the uploaded files. You can use more than one if you'd like.
