Assignment Instructions: You are required to submit a 3-to-4 page research paper (not counting the references page) and an accompanying PowerPoint presentation which you will present during a 7- 10-minute briefing to the class. Also, one paper copy of the entire assignment package must be turned in to the instructor the morning of Day One.
Within the context of your paper and your presentation you must (at a minimum) answer/address the following:
1. Discuss the DOD policy on market research.

2. What is the purpose of market research?

3. Where in the acquisition process is market research conducted? Address the use of market research in post award contract administration.

4. Discuss some of the best practices in conducting market research, both in the DoD and commercial marketplace. Include specific information to be gained from the process and unique methods of used in the market research process.

5. Specifically review GAO Decision B-262168, May 24, 1996 (Martino) and address the implications of this case. You may also refer to an additional GAO decisicixon (of your choosing) regarding market research.
