Is the culture loose or tight (refer back to Hofestede’s theory)? Next, discuss the status of psychology in your country. (Start by looking at chapters 11 and 12 in your text.) Are there many psychologists? Has an indigenous psychology developed in one or more of the countries in your region? Does the country have its own professional psychological association? What is the incidence of mental illness in the countries in your region and which diagnoses seem most common? How many treatment facilities are there in the countries of your region and what types of psychotherapies are used commonly?
