There are many approaches that one can take in developing a treatment plan. The approach described herein represents a continuation of the same process that began with the clinical assessment and case formulation approaches described in the previous chapters. According to Melchert (2015), the biopsychosocial approach is based on a “holistic understanding the patients needs that recognizes the full range of interactive psychological, sociocultural, and biological influences on development, functioning, and behavior change.
1) From your observation, did the therapist develop a collaborative and mutually acceptable environment for both the patient and her? Or did she seem rigid in her approach.
2) Did the therepist include sufficient details to guide action and outcomes for the client?
3) Did the therapist plan a realistic time frame within the clients capabilities? (i.e., secure housing, client’s vistation with her daughter, next session, etc.)
4) What is your overall impression of the treatment planning process in this case? At this point in your studies, do you feel confident that you can effectively conduct a treatment plan that promotes continued successful outcomes for the client?
