In this paper, you will propose a hypothetical Nursing Course, create a course description, develop learning outcomes, proposed teaching strategies, learning activities, and assessment procedures for the learning outcomes.
Introduction Paragraph
Provide an introduction to your Part 1 paper explaining to the reader the purpose of the paper.
Proposed Hypothetical Nursing Course
In this section, described a proposed nursing course in a pre-licensure Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree program. Do not create a RN to BSN program course. You should include a summary of the class including: purpose of the class, material to be covered, method of delivery of the class (online or face-to-face), number of proposed credits, and any other licensing process information necessary to help explain the course.
Course Description
Create a one paragraph course description. This description should be similar to something you would find in a course catalog or course syllabus. The description should be concise and succinct. Describe the nursing program to which this course belongs. Are the different subprograms within the nursing program defined by level (example: Level One, Level Two, Level Three, Level Four), or description (example: Basics, Chronic, Special Populations, Acute).
Program Outcomes
Clearly state four to eight program outcomes. The reader can easily understand what the student must be able to do in order to graduate from the nursing program.
Four-Hour Class
Describe a four-hour class that is included in this course within the program. Describe what the topic is conceptually. What type of patient will be involved (healthy, chronically ill, acute life-threatening)? Select an exemplar to help the students understand the concept. For example, if you are studying oxygenation, the exemplar may be the patient with pneumonia. Describe the nursing process when caring for this type of patient.
Learning Outcomes
Create eight (8) learning outcomes for a four-hour class in this course. Create one for each of the subcategories of the RN NCLEX test plan (management of care, safety and infection control, health promotion and maintenance, psychosocial integrity, basic care and comfort, pharmacology and parenteral therapies, reduction of risk potential, and physiological adaptation). Put the aligned program outcome in parenthesis behind the outcome
Proposed Teaching Strategies
Discuss proposed teaching strategies used for each of the eight outcomes. You should include at least five (5) different teaching strategies, and include at least a one paragraph description and supported justification for each teaching strategy and how it will help to achieve the learning outcomes.
Learning Activities
Create a list of learning activities that can be used to achieve successful completion of the student learning outcomes. You should include a one-paragraph description of eight (8) different proposed learning activities. Provide support for your selection.
Assessment Procedures for Learning Activities
Select the different types of supported assessment procedures used in the class to assess for successful completion of the course outcomes. Discuss the presence of formative and summative assessment. Make sure to include at least a one-paragraph description of the assessment used and justification of the selection. You should discuss a written NCLEX-style exam and at least two other different types of assessments.
Summary
A two or three paragraph summary of information shared in the paper should conclude the essay.
