But it does have to have a theme (thesis), which means it needs to be about something. Focusing on an event within that trip by describing the thoughts and actions (the sensory elements) that best reflect and define that moment, write an essay conveys a sense of travel and its theme by choosing something that happened during the travel and describing that.

Focus on an aspect of the trip that reflects the larger theme you wish to convey.

This “focusing,” or “narrowing” part of the writing is critical, and it will be central to what we are looking for in this writing.
Do not create a summary of a trip; describe a specific part of it that reflects the larger theme of the journey.
