Describe issues of race and racism in the early swing era (PRS 3). First, summarize their respective arguments regarding the relationships between African-American and white performers in the music industry. Second, point out issues that you find problematic in their presentations of that situation. Third, discuss how you see the relationship between African-American artists and the music industry now. Do these same processes, in which white artists achieve higher levels of fame and opportunity through the performance of African-American styles, continue? If so, provide examples.
