In this assignment, you will observe two YouTube videos that show two 4-year-old children, one with typical language development and one with a language disorder. You are asking to describe how different children are with regards to their language form (e.g., the intelligibility of words, sounds produced, type of sentences), language content (e.g., vocabulary depth, use of vocabulary) and language use (e.g., intentions of communication), as well as the use of gestures and other social-communicative tools if applicable (e.g., eye-contact, prosody, use of pointing, etc.).

Instructions
In this assignment, you will watch: two videos that represent two 4 year-old children, one with typical language development and one with a language disorder. Analysis of the video requires you to apply what you have learned in the first three chapters of Reed textbook (2018):
Chapter 1 : Language and Human Communication
Chapter 2 : Normal Language Development
Chapter 3 : Toddlers and Preschoolers with Specific Language Impairment
You are asked to compare both of them on language form, language content and language use. Here are the elements you must include in your description for both of the children:
Background information: Childs age, gender, and language(s) spoken at home.
Describe and compare language characteristics of both children for each component.
Phonology: What sounds the child uses? / Transformations of sounds/words? Intelligibility?
Semantics: Use of vocabulary? Access to lexicon? Variety of lexicon?
Syntax and morphology: Length of sentences? Grammatical errors? Use of verbs, pronouns, articles?
Pragmatics: Intentional communicative goals? Turn taking? Does the child contribute to the conversation? Does the child recognize a listener and/or adjust to the perspective of the listener?
Comprehension: Does the child comprehend questions asked?
Kinesics: Use of gestures (deitic, iconic, conventional)? Eye-contact? Co-ordinated eye gaze.
For each component, justify why the childs language appears normal or not based on the content of Chapter 2 (Normal Language Development) and Chapter 3 (Toddlers and Preschoolers with Specific Language Impairment) of Reed (2018).
Finally, you are also asked to support your observations with examples from the video. For example, if you observe that a word is mispronounced by the child, you must write how the child pronounced the word and what was the target.
