Students will write a 5-6 page (typed, double spaced, 12 pt. font) research paper utilizing the following outline:
Section 1. Introduction: Depending on the chosen topic, this may include definition(s) of the issue and/or terms used; statistics related to the topic; brief explanation regarding the topic.
Section 2. Effects specifically on the young child: This would include a description of the symptoms/behaviors/difficulties the child may demonstrate due to experiencing the identified stressor.
Section 3. Effects on family members: Provide briefer descriptions of symptoms, behaviors, difficulties, challenges faced by other family members experiencing the identified stressor.
Section 4. Recommendations: This would include generic professional recommendations for both the child and family and would not be a detailed description.
Section 5. Classroom Recommendations: The student should describe in detail the challenges that may be demonstrated within the classroom setting and specific recommendations for the teacher to follow within the classroom setting. This may include environmental set up changes, curricular recommendations, behavioral plans, individualized activities, and topical discussions, peer work, etc.
Section 6. Bibliography citing sources used, using MLA format
Section 7. Separate bibliography/resource guide for books or materials that can be utilized by the classroom teacher.
Students will use at least 5 sources. Sources can include articles from professional journals, texts or books, and legitimate internet sources. As always, your assignment should be in MLA format.
