PURPOSE: This assignment provides the student with the opportunity to research current management issues — current issues are defined as articles written within the last six months. The focus of this assignment is not an in-depth study into every aspect of the chosen issue; but rather to provide the student with a chance to research, and expand their knowledge on a management issue of interest to them and to develop skill in locating articles for research purposes. All chosen articles must pertain to topics addressed in this course. Article selection will be left to the students discretion.
SECTIONS OF PAPER: This 2-page paper should include a brief summary explaining the article, followed by the students views on how their chosen issue directly or indirectly effects: a) them personally, b) employees, c) employers, and d) society. The final section should be concluding remarks.
FORMAT CONSIDERATIONS
Word process using a standard font with font size 10 or 12.
All four margins should be set at one inch.
Double space the document.
Provide a title page including student name, instructors name, course number, and date of completion. Points will be removed if information is repeated on first page of body of report.
Provide a Works Cited Sheet. Any material quoted, referenced or paraphrased must be adequately referenced–refer to the MLA style manual. Remember as you research to record the URL address of any source you obtain from the Internet — you will need it for the Works Cited page.
The body of the paper–written in report format–should be two pages long. For full credit on paper length text should cover 3/4 of page two.
PAGE ORDERING OF REPORT: title page, body of report (summary, effects to you, employer, employees, society, conclusion), and works cited sheet.
