Written assignment will be double-spaced, using 12-point font in New Time Roman style with uniform one-inch margins. The first page should include a title block with your full name, course, and the assignment. You do not need to include a full title page. Citations and reference pages should follow APA format. There are quite a few APA resources available online for your use including the Purdue Owl.
For this assignment, you will act as the chairperson of a local non-profit that is vitally interested and concerned with providing educational programs to underprivileged or marginalized students. For this assignment, you will be given a specific grant
announcement from the U.S. Department of Education. Your task in this assignment is essentially to draft an abbreviated grant proposal and application using the guide provided. Because such grant proposals are typically extensive, we will focus on the
essential parts of a grant proposal, and you will be responsible for researching and formulating your idea for completing a grant proposal, drafting the grant proposal, and
then submitting it to me, the grant review board.
I will be providing a specific set of instructions and format instructions for this proposal
project. In general, however, such a proposal will contain information about you as the CEO and your fictional non-profit, a cover sheet (including the title and duration of your proposed project), a project summary, a project description, and a reference section.
For this assignment, you will be given the opportunity to make connections between course readings, class discussions and activities, and the realities of education policies in the United States as you create your grant proposal to favorably impact the education of these groups of students. In general, you will be evaluated on how well or how clearly you can propose a particular educational program which might take into consideration
many of the themes of the course, including the purposes of schooling, the dynamics of race, class, gender, and the politics of accountability, funding and tracking, or other issues. I will give you a specific rubric to use as a blueprint for this assignment.
