Create an outline based on your expanded thesis. Your outline should be divided according to subtopics and paragraphs. Your outline should be formatted in point form, clarifying your hierarchy of ideas.

You will need to plan for more than three body paragraphs. Please review word count analysis.

Insert in-text citations into your outline and offer an overview of how you plan to use the cited research.

Use the example Formal Outline from this module as a general guide for formatting.
WARNING: You are encouraged to use the formatting of the example outline (headings), but if you copy ANY portion of the content, including transitions and general wording of strategy, your will receive a grade of ZERO on this assignment.

Use the Example Paragraph Outline as a guide for how much detail you should have for each of your body paragraphs.

Be sure to avoid using quotations as much as possible.
Most, if not all, the information in your outline should be paraphrased/summarized.

Remember that you will save time later if you put more time into your outline.

Include a full references page containing the formal research you plan to cite in your essay.
These sources should coincide with your annotated bibliography, but you can add/subtract sources from your annotated bibliography if you wish.
For an essay of this length, you will almost certainly need more than 8 sources. As a short exercise, examine the example outline and count the number of sources being offered.
A good practice is to aim for a minimum of three sources of support for each body paragraph.
Your references page should adhere to the APA guide. Please see the last pages in the guide for an example references page. Required Formatting

Format your outline the same as the example formal outline linked above:

Outline formatting is not the same as essay formatting. You do not need a title page for your outline, and your outline should use single spacing. Use the example formal outline linked above as your guide. Be sure to use the same headings and subheads:

First tier headings:
Introduction
Subtopics
Conclusion

Second tier headings:
Introduction strategy
Thesis
Body paragraph 1, 2 etc.
Conclusion strategy

Third tier headings:
Topic sentence
Formal research
Concluding statement

Scope is the the amount of information you plan to provide in your essay.

Because word count requirements can differ greatly between assignments, word count analysis is a skill that must be learned in order to write academic essays for post-secondary courses.

Word count analysis may be challenging for you at first, but as you develop your writing skills, you’ll be able to quickly assess the scope required for any writing assignment.

Steps in word count analysis

Review your assignment

Determine the word count (or page count) requirement for your assignment
This information will greatly influnce the planning phases of your assignment
Your goal is to match the required count range
Writing too little or too much will cause organizational problems and a loss of grades
Writing too little or too much will require a lot of time and effort to correct
Take note that the title page and references page(s) are not included in word counts
Apply the word count to your thesis and body paragraphs

Your thesis statement will have two or three subtopics, and you must decide how many body paragraphs you plan to write about each of them
You will need to consider the content that you plan to cover in each body paragraph and the general length (space) each paragraph will require
If you plan for each body paragraph, the writing process becomes much easier to manage
It is important that you continue to work on determining scope during the planning phases of your essay.
Consider scope while creating and refining your thesis
Consider scope while researching your topic and subtopics
Consider scope while creating your annotated bibliography and formal outline
An example breakdown

Typically, a double-spaced assignment typed in a 12-point font will produce 300 words per page
This equates to 3.3 pages of text for every 1000 words assigned
If you are assigned around 2000 words, your essay would be around 6.5 pages. The rest of the instructions and additional files I will upload I am unsure how many pages/words are required and also not sure how many sources are required.
