A. The successful continuance of Everett C. Marm’s (the Harlequin’s) rebellion within his community (which will result in a citizenry free of the TICKTOCKMAN’S totalitarian rule) . In the near future: the DYSTOPIA WILL CHANGE.
Will the Harlequin’s efforts inspire real and meaningful change in the future, or was his clownlike interlude just a fleeting masquerade or an ineffectual effort resulting in no substantial change ?
You will need to include a close reading (analysis) of the story. Consider the symbolic representation of the Harlequin, Pretty Alice, Georgette Delahanty, and TheTickTockMan when deciding if the dystopia will continue to flourish, or if it will start to dismantle as a result of Everett’s efforts.
Also include your evaluation of ONE of the critical essays that you have chosen (either to concur or refute).
Additionally, you will want to include at least ONE other source to help you to support your analysis of the story; information concerning behavioral psychology, history, culture, tyrannical rule (autocracy), civil disobedience and revolution, etc. may assist you to support and argue your claims effectively.
Essay should be:
Approximately 750-850 words; double spaced; Times New Roman 12; MLA format (9th ed. is most readily available within the guides posted)
