Consider post-Civil War images of race and slavery. Cite one example of how an artist of this era depicts race in America.; 5. What are some of the “new directions” American artists take during the Gilded Age? Cite one specific example.; 6. Why did the American art world break into splinter groups during the Gilded Age? Cite one such “splinter group.” 7. Cite at least one new technology developed in America during the Gilded Age that significantly impacted either the making of images or the construction of new buildings.
