Listed below are topic(s) I would like for each of you to discuss throughout the week. Refer to the textbook, weekly materials, and/or the GMC library when researching the topics for this Discussion Forum. Put your writing into your own words, do not copy directly from the source. If you incorporate external resources (http://gmcga.libguides.com/periodicals) in your posts be sure to cite (https://gmcga.libguides.com/citationmanagement/APA7th) them properly. Lastly, review how to paraphrase and quote resources before you begin posting (http://gmcga.libguides.com/c.php?g=458&p=996448).

Consider the issue of testing software as a part of the design process. The types of testing include a variety of processes that include the initial processes of detecting syntax errors and desk checking for logic errors. The next steps are to complete unit testing within the program or module to find execution errors, then integration testing that tests the program along with any programs that depend on the program to make sure they work properly together, and the final step is system testing to make sure the program works as expected within the system. The testing process is complex and should include developers, IT staff, and most importantly the operators of the system.
Discuss the practice of testing software and the importance of testing when it relates to software used in the medical field for patient procedures and treatments. Discuss your viewpoint on software errors and the risks of these errors that could negatively impact the health of patients. Consider the ethical issues associated with negative outcomes due to software errors. Review the Ethical Issues section regarding the Therac-25: Anatomy of a Disaster at the end of Chapter 18 to gain some real-world perspective.
