Concepts and Strategies

Concepts and Strategies Worksheet
Complete one entry in the Concepts and Strategy Worksheet [DOC] for each chapter you read in Behavior Analysis for Effective Teaching. You will use this research to help you complete your Unit 8 assignment, Teaching Behavior Analysis Lesson Plan.

Be sure to read the “Objectives” at the beginning of each chapter and the Concept Checks at the end. For Unit 4, complete the following for Chapters 8, 9, and 10:

Choose one concept from each chapter.
For each concept you choose, identify a behavior-based instructional strategy (a specific instructional technique or an instructional framework) you could use to teach the concept. Note: For purposes of this assignment, a different instructional strategy should be chosen for each concept so you can become familiar with many.
Examples of instructional strategies supported by theories of behavior analysis include but are not limited to:
Shaping.
Chaining.
Behavioral skills training.
Precision teaching.
Direct instruction.
Personalized system of instruction.
TAG teaching.
Stimulus equivalence paradigm (equivalence relations).
Video modeling.
Inter teaching.
Programmed instruction.
Peer tutoring.
Guided notes (and related).
Active responding.
For each concept, fill out the Concepts and Strategies Worksheet, listing:
The concept.
The instructional strategy you might use to teach it.
Your rationale for choosing this strategy to teach this concept.
The behavior-analytic principles at work in the chosen instructional strategy.
A brief explanation of how you might employ the strategy to teach the related concept.
At least two references. Your references must include at least one peer-reviewed journal article demonstrating the effectiveness of the strategy. The other reference may be the course text or an additional peer-reviewed journal article found in the Capella University Library or other scholarly source. You may use required or recommended course readings as appropriate.
By the end of Unit 5, you will have 12 total concepts listed (one per chapter).

Readings
Use the Capella library to read the following:
