Compose a study that explains Which three categories of rhetorical tactics are employed in persuading?Paper 1. Rhetorical Studies / Persuasion: Application and Analysis (20 points, 4 pages).

The study of communication began as a study of public oratory and the theories and strategies humans use to connect with, and persuade, their varied audiences. Today, we recognize that persuasion is everywhere; it is in our interpersonal relationships and in social media messages, at the workplace in organizational rhetoric, and in all manner of public and institutional discourse. Clearly, individuals and institutions are active in creating and modifying meaning that aims to influence our thinking, behavior, and actions.

To become critical producers and consumers of persuasion and to recognize how it effects our everyday lives and communities, students will analyze a persuasive text to identify how it functions in its particular context, using Aristotle’s artistic proofs as a mode of analysis, while being attentive to the text’s personal, professional, social, and ethical implications. The student may select a speech or an artifact from a specific social movement, corporate, or political campaign. The student will study the context in which the persuasive message was delivered, as well as the verbal and nonverbal dimensions of the message, to determine the relative success of the persuasive effort. Remembering that the “public good” lies with the quality of its champions, students will evaluate the ethical implications of this persuasive effort and whether it could positively or negatively influence individuals, communities, and institutions. Students will incorporate two scholarly sources into the paper.
