This paper gives you a chance to engage more deeply with either Christianity or Islam. We will use the issue of nonhuman animal ethics as an example of how religious traditions continue to be relevant for how people reflect on contemporary moral issues. You should complete the readings about both Christian and Muslim perspectives on nonhuman animals (found below), and then choose which tradition you want to engage for the paper. In the paper, you should introduce the issue, discuss key positions developed in the readings, along with the support given for those positions, and offer a conclusion about what you discovered about the possible role of religion in moral reflection. Throughout the paper, you should highlight connections you see between the readings and what you learned about the religion in this class. At least three readings for the tradition that you choose must be cited in the paper.

The paper must be between 600-700 words, and a word-count must be included on your paper. Grammar, spelling, and other aspects of clear writing are very important for this assignment. When relying on information from the readings, please include parenthetical citations to page numbers. The use of other sources is discouraged.
