PROMPT: Choose one of the following topics, and write a 3-4 page essay addressing the prompt you choose. This MLA formatted essay should be academic in tone (with no I or you or I think anywhere in the paper) and should be supported with the text via quotes, summaries, and/or paraphrases and two outside scholarly sources.
1. Othello is one of Shakespeares most powerful tragic heroes. In this essay, discuss his character- how it evolves, how it develops, how it changes. Discuss his motivation, strengths, and flaws.
2. In a Shakespearean tragedy, characters die who do not deserve their unfortunate fates. Choose three characters who die innocently and analyze how each one’s blindness to the truth leads to his or her death.
A Works Cited page must also be included at the end of your paper. Sources should be located using the online sources that end in .edu. Think about your topic, and make an outline to help you plan your essay. I will be looking for (1) a clear thesis, (2) accurate, adequate, specific support, and (3) correct formatting, citations, and Standard Academic English.
