You are required to read chapters 5 & 6 in Alexander’s book because it will help you with your final. Remember, you can choose any aspect where social injustices happen in American society. The list below will help you decide. Please use the tools you have been reading this semester, such as The Writer’s Presence, The New Jim Crow Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, the films, The Color Purple, The Princess, and the Frog, and our weekly discussions. You are required to use up to five sources. Your annotated bibliographies will serve as your Rosetta Stones for this project. Your paper must be no less than five pages using MLA citation style. Please refer to Purdue OWL to work to avoid errors. Double-space and use a 12-point font such as Ariel, Calibri, Ariel Narrow, or Times New Roman. Your works cited must be on a separate page. Remember to use title case for your titles and heading 1 for your subheadings, and use a different color for your font. Finally, you are required to use your vocabulary words. You must use all of your vocabulary words in your final paper. I will deduct at least five points if you don’t use any vocabulary.
The following are areas where social injustices occur frequently. This list is not exhaustive. You can use these suggestions to stimulate ideas for other areas where social injustices can happen, such as in healthcare.
Immigration/Immigrants

Economically disadvantaged members of the community

Academic Essay Friendly reminders
An academic essay is formal writing as opposed to your weekly blogs, which were informal writing. Do not confuse the two. You must use a Microsoft Word document and double-space throughout. Your font choices include Ariel, Ariel Narrow, Calibri, Garamond, or Times New Roman in 12-points. You must use the title case feature in MS Word for all titles. If you don’t have this feature, use 15-point with the bold feature and choose a different font.
Do not open or close your paragraphs with quotations. Let the author back up what you say. All paragraphs must be indented. Create a hanging indent for all block quotes. Check out Purdue OWL and follow their example.
