This is a cause and effect essay where you should only focus on the cause and NOT the effect. This should be a 5-essay paragraph (intro and conclusion)+ and 3 paragraphs; each paragraph discusses one cause with a citation from peer-reviewed articles.
State clearly whether you are discussing causes or effects (not both!). Introduce your thesis by using the terms “cause” or “effect.” Your thesis should create an argument (your argument is your point of view or strong belief). Examples:
* The main causes of dissatisfaction among the workers in my office are low wages, sexual harassment, and boredom.
The paragraphs are ordered according to important theses. That is important causes are placed first. The paragraph pattern follows Order of importance: Details are arranged from least to most important (or vice versa).
Use cause/effect transitions:
to blend details smoothly in your cause and effect essay, use some of the transitions or transitional phrases listed below:
For causes: because, due to, one cause is, another cause is, since, the first cause is, the second cause is, third, for the (simple) reason that, because (of the fact), due to (the fact that), being that.
* Strengthen your essay by using supporting evidence. Provide one source per body paragraph by employing direct quotations or by summarizing. Your quotes and summaries cannot be more than 3 sentences.
The conclusion summarizes one main idea from each paragraph and proposes a call-to-acticixon BUT does not provide new info
