Either a book report is due on 2 May. The Book report is an easy ride. What does that mean? Lets look at your 2 choices of great books. =

Enjoy reading it and you will because Gabriela F. Arredondo will take you through the journey of her family when they first came to America from 1916-1939 Mexico. Few non-Mexican Americans know the struggles Mexicans have when they first come to America. Arredondos family faced revolution and out of control deadly violence in Mexico and wanted to come here for a safer place to raise their children. However, they had to struggle to that they were trying to be as American as other Americans. In that process they faced severe discrimination and racism, which Arredondo goes into detail about. In reading the journey of her family, you also go into Arredondos mind to see what it is like to be a Mexican American. One new aspects of Mexican Americans you may find out is how they are treated, when they visit Mexico with their Mexican parents. They are seen as not Mexican enough because they speak Spanish in way that the natives of Mexico can tell immediately they are Americans. Arredondos work is truly a harrowing history of struggle a certain community had to go through in a racist Chicago between 1916-1939. Hardship and triumph are woven together.
After you finish reading it, summarize it in your own words in a WORD or WORD Pad document. If you are choosing the book report, your paragraphs simply need to contain the following A. B. and C.

The conclusion (What is your opinion of how Arrendondo ended the book?) [167+ words]

THIS IS A BOOK YOU CARRY WITH YOU THROUGHOUT LIFE BECAUSE IS A BOOK ABOUT THE HISTORY OF MONEY IN YOUR COUNTRY AND HOW IT REALLY WORKS. BY THE WAY, YOUR INSTRUCTOR HAS BEEN SLOWLY BUYING GOLD AND SILVER COINS OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS AND SUGGEST YOU START DOING THE SAME NOW!!! THAT ACTION IS A PART OF THE TOPIC OF THIS BOOK FOR YOUR REPORT AS WELL.

Your choice of working on a Book Report. Here are the links of suggestions on how to create them for either you choose.

Hint for this course and for years beyond: If you are pressed for time either here or at the university years from and have say 5 other classes, you can cut your reading time down and still turn in a great report. Here is how. =

Read the table of contents first.
Read the conclusion next in order to know what is going to happen ultimately before it happens. Things will fall in place as you read the chapters because you already know the ultimate outcome.
Read 2 maybe 3 of the chapters. (Usually, 2 is enough.)
Doing this when you are pressed for time and cannot read an entire book, will allow you to still create a quality book report. You have College Calculus, Biology, English, US History, and Sociology. How are you going to do all of the required outside reading for all of these? Well this is one way to do so.

So let’s look at the structure of this 5 paragraph book report. = Each paragraph is 6+ sentences, single-spaced. The 5 paragraphs are lettered below.

A. Introduction paragraph (If you like you can pose a curious question, make a provocative statement, and etc. to catch our attention.) The other 5 or so paragraphs can be you telling us what you are going to talk about in the 3 middle paragraphs. At least we now know what you are going to tell us about and will be looking for this in the next 3 paragraphs.

B. First Main Idea (State your 1st main idea in the first sentence. The next 5 or so paragraphs can be examples that support your first main idea. Or you can mix it up a little by making some these 5 or so sentences what you interpret from the reading, as long as it pertains to the first main idea.

C. Second Main Idea (You don’t have to do this. However, if you want to show off or get good and prepare yourself for English courses, you can try it. = Not only state your 2nd main idea in the first sentence, but you can include a transition word or phrase that links this paragraph up to the previous paragraph. The next 5 or so sentences can be examples, illustrations and etc. that support your 2nd main idea.

D. Third Main Idea (Do the same as the Second Main Idea, with your 3rd main idea.)

E. Conclusion (This one you have several options. Two of them can be done like this. = You can just take the easy way, by summing up what you said in the middle 3 paragraphs so that we can remember what you said. You can give us your take on the topic, that makes us think about it even after we have put your book report down. <-- This one involves your intellectual prowess, as you get us to understand the importance of this book. You can do a combination of both of these. There are so many ways to write a conclusion.
