1. Discuss the important people and events from the first eight chapters of your text- analyze and explain why people were important and why events occurred as they did. Explain how the important people and events you discussed contributed to furthering or hindering the progress of civilization. Provide your insights into the relationship between various countries and peoples. HINT: THE QUESTIONS IN EACH CHAPTER PROVIDE A MAP/OUTLINE OF WHAT IS IMPORTANT IN EACH CHAPTER. (Because space is limited, you will need to evaluate and decide who and what is more important in each chapter. If you need to expand your answer to the first question to 9 pages then restrict your response to the second question to one page). Your responses to the two questions should total 10 pages.
NOTE: ALWAYS ANALYZE and EXPLAIN WHY people were important and WHY events occurred. In other words, do not provide only a chronological recitation of what happened, be sure to provide your analysis of why things occurred as they did and why the people involved are studied. Support your analysis by your references to the what, when, where, how and why of the history discussed.
