This course is called the science of romantic relationships so I need to choose a topic related to relationships. I would like to do my topic on attachment styles and relationship dissolution (i.e. how different kinds of attachment styles affect/lead to break-ups or something along those lines)
My teacher stated the following:
The paper (worth 30%) will be a 10-page double-spaced paper of text, plus title page, and references. Please use Times New Roman font, size 12, with margins of 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all four sides (left, right, top, bottom).
For the paper you will (a) identify at least 3 research articles in reputable academic journals on a topic of interests, (b) develop a thorough understanding of the ideas, methods, and results of this body of research, (c) and write a popular press article that conveys the information in a way that accurately represents the research but can be understood by someone without a science background. For context, you can search up Ed Yong to see his popular press articles.
Please note: Although the paper is from the perspective of a science journalist, please use APA format for citing your references in the text of your paper and have a separate references section (in APA format). NO images or figures or infographics are needed for the title page or anywhere else.
For the paper you are essentially the middle person between the scientific literature you’re reading/citing and the general public. You must develop a narrative of your choosing based on your reading of this literature and to develop this narrative so that a general audience can follow along an understand. So, this is not strictly a literature review, but rather using the literature of your choosing to develop a narrative on the selected topic and then writing a piece that develops/explains your narrative (citing the literature you have read as appropriate).
