Assuming both of my premises are true, then my conclusion is necessarily true as well. However, I can see a few issues with my premises that one could call into question. Can you spot them?

For this week’s discussion I thought it might be a good idea to share the arguments we will be using in our assignments. The idea behind the assignment is that you will choose a thesis and then construct a deductive argument that is supposed to prove that thesis is true. I’ll give a quick example.

Thesis: Anything is possible.

Deductive argument in support of thesis:

Premise 1: The universe is infinite.

Premise 2: If the universe is infinite, then anything is possible.

Conclusion: Anything is possible.

Assuming both of my premises are true, then my conclusion is necessarily true as well. However, I can see a few issues with my premises that one could call into question. Can you spot them?

For your post give a thesis and then a deductive argument to support that thesis. Then discuss if you see any possible weaknesses in your argument. Ask yourself how someone might question one or more of your premisses.
