Conduct a case study analysis about an ethical dilemma that can occur in a school. Students will analyze the case study relative to the school counselors conduct. Students will choose ONE case study for their analysis from chapters 1-7 in the course text. The 5 to 7-page analysis (not including title page and references) must adhere to APA guidelines (e.g., double-spaced, 12-point, Times New Roman font; See APA Formatting and Style Guide https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/). Students will examine the following:
a. Identify 2-3 essential points of the case and explain why they are relevant
b. Articulate why you believe the school counselors actions in the case are ethical, unethical, legal, or illegal
c. Select one code from the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics and one code from the ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counseling to justify your explanation
d. Reflect on how your personal and professional values and multiculturalism (i.e., dimensions of personal identity) may have influenced your ethical decision-making
Case Study :A young female teacher has a reputation for sending at least one Latino male student to the office every day for discipline purposes. The principal addresses the matter with the teacher and asks the counselor to help by consulting with the teacher. Through several consultation meetings with the teacher, the counselor becomes aware of the teacher’s negative stereotypes and assumptions about Latino men. In consultation, the counselor states her concerns about the teacher’s biases attitudes toward Latino males.
