A strong essay will contain the following:
An introduction that includes any necessary background information on the subject and the titles, authors, and theme that will be explored
A thesis at the end of the introduction that emphasizes the importance of the relationship between the works, characters and/or their themes.
Four body paragraphs that are unified around one topic that relates directly to the thesis.
Each body paragraph will contain a topic sentence, explanation, evidence (quote/paraphrase w/citation), and analysis.
A conclusion that summarizes the main points made in the essay and then projects what the wider or larger impact the essays theme might portray.
Essay will avoid you and I perspectives, and it will instead use third person (speaker, audience, readers, the author)
Language and elements associated with fiction (framework, plot, dialogue),
A works cited page and in-text citations that follow MLA format.
Few sentence structure or grammatical errors. More than 5 errors per page may result in a non-passing grade.
