An analysis of one theme in Beowulf, either comitatus, revenge, gift-giving, kingship, poetry/scop, religion, exile, or elegy. You must make sure to use quotations from the poem in your essay.
Your essay must include:
1. An introductory paragraph which contains both a central claim about the poem and plan of development;
2. Body paragraphs that
1. reference specific quotations in the Old English poetry (in translation)
2. reference at least three academic Secondary sources (one of which can be the headnotes in your textbook), and at least one of which comes from the library, leaving open only ONE source from the Internet. The poetry itself is a primary source,
not a secondary source. Check with me if you have questions about sources.
3. A conclusion (one short paragraph)
4. A Work Cited page (page 6) in MLA format does not contribute to your paper’s word or page count)
