Assignment Question
After reading both of Fr. Boyle’s books, Tattoos on the Heart and Barking to the Choir, we are to give a detailed account of the content, referring to specific reflections by Boyle as well as significant stories of his homeboys.
This paper needs to be both reflective and critical. Three outside sources, such as scholarly reviews, need to be referenced and cited as well as Scripture, and obviously both of his books listed above. (Both books are included in the number of sources required). Content should include the history of Homeboy Industries, its struggles, and its impact on society. Please also include reflections on society’s different perspectives on gangs and their members and how Boyle has influenced society’s views. Two articles I came across are: “The Paradox of Privilege: Fr. Gregory Boyle, S.J., Relational-Cultural Theory, and the Expansion of the Margins” by Linda Land-Closson. 2017. “Showing Gang Members a Way Out of Darkness” by Joanne Alford. 2018. “The Draw of the ‘Dead Town'” by Suzanne Smalley and Evan Thomas. 2009. 446354 4 hours ago Please use “The Paradox of Privilege” for a considerable amount of this essay. At Master’s level writing, book reports are inacceptable by most professors. Comparing and contrasting the outside sources to the content within the books will be sufficient for the book summaries. 446354 4 hours ago And please, please, please do not be redundant with materials.
