A successful summary will achieve the following three goals:

Report the conclusion, premises, and supporting evidence in your own words.
You must report information accuratelydo not include your opinions or use outside sources. This is not a research paper. It’s a summary of a particular article.
Convey information using the summary authors own words when appropriate (direct quotes with citations).
You may integrate NO MORE THAN 2 direct quotes with APA in text citations from your article. You do not have to integrate any direct quotes but if you do, there’s a max of 2.
Reduce the original text to the most essential parts necessary for understanding the text.
The summary should be about one-third of the length of the original document and should be double spaced and include your name and a title for your summary (give your summary it’s own title– don’t just use the article title). Follow the instructions.
Make sure to include a bibliography in APA style
Rubric for Paper #1:

Clear and accurate summary of the central thesis of the article (here you will be identifying the authors conclusion) 15 points
Clear and accurate summary of the premises and evidence presented in the article (here you will be identifying the authors premises) 35 points
spelling/grammar/paper is 1/3 length of original article and includes your name and a title (all papers deserve titleseven summaries!) 25 points
