Proposal:
In three to four paragraphs, the proposal must explain:
1. What you would like to research for your Auto/Ethnographic piece.
2. Your research question/s
3. The reason you want to write about it.
4. Talk about the three sources you are going to use to inform your essay. Why do you think the sources are credible? What facts will they give you for your paper? Why are they important for this piece?
5. List the sources in MLA format at the bottom.
Ethnography Piece
Directions: Your paper must be 4 pages and have a Works Cited list that cites at least three sources.
Your Ethnography paper must address/discuss the following topics:
1. Your research questions (Avoid questions that can be answered with a yes or no. Limit the scope so the question can be answered in 3-4 pages.)
2. Give us some history behind the culture/subculture.
3. Geographical location–Where do these people reside?
4. What are the criteria for membership?
5. How do they behave together? Are there: a. common rituals/traditions/ attitudes b. activities that make them a legitimate part of that group c. meaning behind the clothing worn?
6. What are the common beliefs/motivations? What unites them?
7. Is there a social structure or hierarchy to the group?
8. Are there any challenges to the group?
9. Does the group have any meaningful artifacts, symbols etc. What is their use/ significance?
