Group Meeting Assignment (20 points; SLO 2, 3; AAMFT Competency 1.1.3, 4.1.1)
Due Week 7
Identify and plan to attend one informal group meeting that lasts for at least one hour. (5 points)
For the purposes of this assignment this may be any group such as a 12-step group, work-related meeting, local interest group, a book club meeting, or a social gathering of family and friends. (5 points)
The group must have an interactive and interpersonal participation component. Therefore a 12-step group is not ideal- please plan to come early and stay after the 12-step group in order to interact with the members.
You may initiate a group by inviting people that you know to discuss a topic of interest, movie, contemporary issue and so on. The group must be face-to-face; it cannot be online.
Write 36-page paper on this group detailing: the type of group, the goal of the group, the group interaction, the group process, and perceived outcome of the group. Also, include your own reflections of the group. (10 points)
