Write a paper on Vanitas by Jaques De Claeuw. The word count of your essay must be included in the document.

Explain, based on what you have learned in class about the respective culture, how this work relates to that culture.
Taking both the formal features and the cultural context into account, explain what you think is the works meaning or significance.

To arrive at a thesis, try asking yourself questions such as Why is this work interesting or special?, What makes it a work of art?, What does it tell us about the culture it comes from?, What is its message?, and How does it communicate that message in a unique way?
