You will be required to prepare a power-point presentation. The topic is Substance
Abuse in the Nursing Profession. You must utilize at least 2 peer reviewed nursing
journal articles. You may also use textbooks as references. You may not utilize
Wikipedia or other non- professional resources. You will be evaluated in the following
areas, and need to utilize these headings on your PowerPoint to help organize your
presentation:
1. Identify warning signs of the nurse experiencing substance abuse.
2. Identify risk factors (Examine the nursing specialties and factors that are associated
with higher rates of substance abuse than others.)
3. Discuss how to report substance abuse in the work place.
4. Discuss the consequences that present for impaired nurse after substance abuse is
reported.
5. Discuss suggestions of ways to handle substance abuse in the nursing profession.
Please include citations within your slides and make sure that you have a reference to
support the citation. Please include a separate area for references at the end of your
presentation. Remember to list your references according to APA format!
