Reflecting on your clinical practice setting, what issue are you interested in pursuing as your DNP scholarly project? Additionally, what middle range theories comes to mind when considering the practice problem? These questions set the stage for early identification and articulation of the topic you will pursue as your DNP project. And while identifying an issue of interest can be challenging, it’s important to remember that an area of interest must center on a topic that is meaningful to your practice. Also of note is that identifying a practice issue is the first step in developing the DNP project. Last, the addition of a theory or framework helps in describing or explaining the practice problem. I look forward to the identification of your practice problem and middle range theories you are considering for your DNP project.
To prepare:
Analyze your nursing practice for issues of particular interest or concern to you. Identify one issue as the focus of your application of theory to practice.
Review the Week 2 Learning Resources to identify specific middle range theories that may apply to your practice issue.
Choose at least two middle range theories that might be most relevant and valuable in addressing your practice issue.
Search the Walden Library for scholarly articles that address application of middle range theories to practice issues.
Consider how to frame your focus practice issue in terms of the middle range theories that you have selected.
With these thoughts in mind
1. Post an explanation of your practice issue.
2. Then, describe two middle range theories that are most valuable in addressing this issue and
3. Explain why. Be specific and provide examples.
