22 Processes On PMBOX Guide/Project, Page 25. The Subject is Project management

The Assignment

First a word of clarification: the point of this assignment is to demonstrate competency in the 22 processes. That being said, when discussing each process, there are two primary objectives:

Describe the process in good detail so that the person reading it can understand what it is without having to do further research
Describe how the process applies in a real-world scenario
For further clarification, the St. Dismas study is there to give you something to evaluate and reference when writing about each of the 22 processes. If you have another case study that you can find that is better, feel free to use it. Your draft essays should also help to fill in a lot of the blanks. When in doubt, remember the highlighted areas above.

St. Dismas Project Case.docx

The assignment requires that you:

Read the project case, or another project case that is of equal quality (more cases can be found here, for example: https://www.pmi.org/business-solutions/case-studies (Links to an external site.) )
Apply your knowledge and briefly explain each process in the Execution and the Monitoring & Controlling process groups, and
Use your essay drafts that you wrote throughout the class to help evaluate the case study
There are 22 different processes, and each one should be addressed individually in your evaluation essay, separated by a section heading for each process. If you need a reminder of the specific processes, page 25 in the PMBOK Guide is a good place to start.

The essay should also include a summary, explaining your overall analysis and understanding of the selected project, applying what you learned from the text, discussions and previous assignments of the 2 process groups. The summary should be the last section of your paper and not to exceed 2 pages.

Technical Parameters:

Essay should be a minimum of 10 pages in length (excluding cover page and reference page), double spaced, size 12 font, 1 inch margins, submitted in Microsoft Word.

References (support):

Your paper should include and reference 12 separate sources, 3 of which should be Kloppenborg, the Critical Thinking text, and the PMBOK. I will deduct points for not citing your resources from which you obtained information. Remember to format your in-text citations and bibliography using APA format. I will be using Turnitin to validate originality of your work.

I am interested in what you have learned, so excessive quotes from sources should be avoided (paraphrase and cite, instead of quoting). Consider how you can paraphrase using your voice instead of the author’s voice.

The assignment will be graded as follows:

Up to 10 points for each process (total of 220).
Up to 50 points for writing mechanics, grammar, syntax, and effective communication (clear and succinct).
Up to 50 points for summary section.
Peer Review

There is a peer review component of this assignment. You will be randomly assigned 1 peer review after the assignment closes. The peer review is due within 48 hours after the assignment closes, and opens at midnight after the assignment closes. The peer review should have the following, at a minimum:

A point assignment for each category in the rubric (don’t forget to click “show rubric” in the peer review window)
At least 2 sentences explaining why you assigned the points; for example, “student did not fully explain the process and its meaning in the project management lifecycle” and “student did not elaborate on how the process applied to the case study”
There is very little flexibility for late assignments and peer reviews, since this is the end of the quarter and final grading will be due, so make sure to submit on time. If you do not submit a peer review, the maximum points you can receive on your final essay is 70% of the total available points.
