This unit’s assignment focuses on applying your critical-thinking skills as you determine the value of online sources.

The following Course Outcomes are assessed in this assignment:

CS113-3: Increase academic effectiveness by strengthening critical thinking and researching skills.

GEL-6.02: Incorporate outside research into an original work appropriately.

Download the Unit 6 Assignment template and complete the following steps:

Save the file to your computer, entitling it YourName-Unit6-Assignment.
Make sure to rename the document with your own name replacing “YourName.”
Remember where you have saved the file so that you can locate your work later.
When you have completed your work, make sure to save your document on your computer once again.

Address the following checklist items:

Identify a current APA formatted reference and the needed components, including (1) author, (2) date, (3) title, (4) journal title (if applicable), and (5) URL.
Apply the five Ws by responding to items 1–5 (minimum 2-sentence response each):
(1) Authority (who): Who is the author or sponsor, and what are their credentials? Did the author/sponsor provide contact information?

(2) Accuracy (where): Where did the information come from? Are there citations and links to other websites?

(3) Objectivity (what): What is the purpose of the site (inform, entertain, persuade, advertise, etc.)? Is the discussion fact-based or opinion-based?

(4) Currency (when): When was the site originally created? Has it been recently updated? Are the links working?

(5) Coverage (why): Why is this site worthwhile? Is the site easy to navigate, and does the information seem logical?

Respond to Items I and II:

Item I (in a minimum of 10 sentences): Referring specifically to the five Ws listed above, explain why you feel the online source you selected would be suitable to use as a reference for a college-level research paper.
Describe the kind of thinking and questioning you applied as you reviewed the source.
Item II (in a minimum of 10 sentences): Explain why it will be worthwhile for you to take the time to find and utilize reliable, accurate online sources in the future.
Articulate your responses at a college level and be sure your writing is focused, concise, and organized.
Use correct grammar, punctuation, and nonoffensivcixe, inclusive, and respectful language.
