1. Proud to educate the youth about the field of engineering; facilitated presentations, demonstrations, and activities with middle schoolers with the Society of Women Engineers to learn about engineering and inspire participants about taking their math and science studies seriously during schooling advancements; especially inspiring the females in the room that they can be engineers too, similar to me.
2. On campus I played the role of vice president for two student organizations, Society of Women Engineers and Circle-K international. Those roles really allowed me to help give back to my community. Additionally, I was a lab instructor for an introduction engineering course that I had taken as a freshman, which was super fun, and definitely a full circle moment.
3. Yes. During the pandemic, I had a professor who I had heard amazing things about. He not only met those high expectations I had, but also exceeded them as he became a mentor to me the following semesters at the university. Professor reached out to me to become an undergrad teaching assistant for two of his classes while things were online which I enjoyed doing a lot, and he also helped assist in my capstone project after finally meeting him in person. He was no longer just a professor to me, instead he became a colleague and mentor as he also helped provid advice for post-grad plans.
4. After graduation, I will be working at a corporate company to continue my passion for engineering and hands-on work. The university provided many opportunities for hands-on work through labs and research. Had an overall good experience and am thinking of possibly going back for a masters.
5. Being that I am a first generation, minority, female student in engineering, I am proud that I’ve graduated college with not only one but two degrees in engineering and a minor in the arts. I’m really proud of myself for putting myself out there after the pandemic slowed down because I was definitely inactive and timid 2 out of my 4 years at school. I took advantage of my time back on campus, joining and acting as vice president for two active student orgs, as well as three jobs on campus, while balancing my course load and making many great memories with new friends.
