For your term paper I want you to pick a famous (or infamous) investigation and research it. I chose the ZODIAK KILLER. The focus of your research should be the investigation itself, so be sure to choose an incident where there is enough information on the investigative techniques which were used. Book used in class is Criminal Investigations by Michael D Lyman

For your paper, summarize the crime and the investigation. Identify investigative techniques you have learned about during the course and how they were applied to the investigation you’ve chosen. Consider:

– Did the investigators make errors? Were there options or techniques available to them which they didn’t utilize but might have made a difference?

– Did the investigators do anything new or innovative that proved fruitful?

– Are there techniques available today which might have made a difference (if your case is historical)? What are they and how would they apply?

– What led to the success or failure of the investigation?

Your paper should basically be a discussion/research paper, 5 – 7 pages in length. Typed, size 12 font, double spaced. Submit the assignment as a word document attachment. Remember to provide a reference page and be careful to avoid plagiarism.
