Write an essay on Judaism and Christianity about how to study religion and religions, give examples of how some specific areas of study, ex. history, archaeology, anthropology, political science, philology, etc., have been helpful establishing “what is there” in the religions, and how that contributes to “what should I think” about them. If you can, explore issues that arise in understanding the religions, including our own cultural contexts. Finally, how does that help us think about “Religion” in general? I highly recommend you review the “Study of Religion” module with which the course opened.
I recommend that it be between 3-5 pages in length. It will be evaluated in appropriateness of the examples chosen for what you want to illustrate, and the way you draw out their meaning for the study of religion. Please upload your essay in MS Word format.. I never open Google docs.
Organization, spelling, and grammar, will contribute to the grade.
