What type of genetic materials the virus carries?
what receptors does the disease use to get into and out of the cell?
how is the virus assembled inside the cell and how does the cell get out of the cell?
What are the major target cells of the virus? (Pictures would really help for these sections)
How does the immune system control the virus?
What happened if the immune system overacts and cause a cytokine storm?
Molecular details of the disease will be appreciated!! Don’t try to be too generic. Think of your target audience being the biology research professionals, NOT the public. I like to read advances in research in this section, not a generic guideline.

Discuss the major variants of covid and how they may be more transmissible and/or more virulent and the potential concerns of those variants

Vaccines
Discuss the general principal and the category of the various vaccines. Do NOT just limit to the talking about vaccines approved in the USA. Discuss the causes of the potential side effects of the vaccines (such as blood clots associated with viral vector vaccines and the myocarditis associated with the mRNA vaccines).
discuss how well the vaccines can protect against the variants (esp. Delta variants)
You may also include examples of some misinformation and why some people may not want to get the vaccine and ways to overcome that.
Drug treatment:
Discuss the new antiviral treatment developed by Merck and Pfizer. Both show relatively high efficacy in reducing hospitalization. Discuss the mechanisms of action of both of these drugs
Also discuss the efficacy of the monoclonal antibody therapies approved and the use of convalescent plasma.
Briefly discuss other antiviral compound like Remdesivir, favipiravir (anti-flu), lopinavir-ritonavir (anti-HIV) and combination therapy with interferon and whether they may be helpful
Epidemiology:
How fast is the virus spreading?
What is the latest estimated R0 of Covid-19? What are the R0 of some of the variants?
Given the current trajectory of the virus, what % of population would need to be immune to the virus to attain herd immunity?
Prevention/Management of the disease
You may express your opinion freely in this section. Do you agree with Mask mandates for school, business, public places, etc.? Do you think it is necessary?
Do you think there should be a vaccinate mandate to attend school, to stay in a certain job (e.g., hospital, airlines, police, firemen, etc.?)
Discuss some global perspectives and how vaccine and drug treatments could be shared more equitably in the world.
