Is there evidence to prove that the gender pay gap exists today, and can solutions help close the gap?

My dissertation question is “Is there evidence to prove that the gender pay gap exists today, and can solutions help close the gap?”. I have included a document with the outline of what to write about in each section. The structure of the essay should include an introduction, a description of methodology and findings, a conclusion and references. For the methodology section, explains two things. First, what overall (theoretical) perspective the study adopts and what its key concerns, strength and weaknesses are and, second, what kinds of source materials (data, documents, publications, etc.) you have used and how you have analysed them, that is, what methods or methodologies you have used, and what the strength and limitations of your approach are.
