Part II: Problem-Solution Essay
Your problem-solution essay should be around 1000 words in Times New Roman, 12, single space. Please do not copy-paste or do not paraphrase the sources. Check this with Grammarly or Turnitin before submitting your essay. Instead, build up your own paragraphs from short sentences, using the English business style.
A good problem-solution essay:
1. concisely describes the problem. For example, choose either the Oriole Furniture case or the Town of Bellington case, whose pdf is available in Canvas Modules;
2. argues in a straightforward way that the problem needs to be solved (hint: you must provide implications or consequences if the problem is not solved);
3. explains the solution proposal in full detail. This must be directly related to the subject matter of Managerial Accounting. You can find inspiration in the cost tools provided by the chapters we covered in the textbook as well as by the case studies;
4. uses paragraphs efficiently. The Introduction paragraph (at least three sentences) should include the description of the problem, the explanation of why it needs to be solved, and your solution idea.
5. has a text body that is two or more paragraphs long and provides the details of your solution.
6. includes a conclusion paragraph of at least two sentences. This must describe how the situation will change if the solution is adopted and if measures or courses of actions are taken. Hint: Adopting your solution’s cost tool will also need implementing other steps.
7. lists all references in line with the APA Guidelines available in Modules in Canvas.
