The International Literacy Association (2017) indicates that literacy leaders “demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical, historical, and evidence-based foundations of literacy and language and the ways in which they interrelate and the role of literacy professionals in schools” (Overarching Standard 1). For this assignment, you will present your personal philosophy of literacy based on theoretical, historical, and evidence-based knowledge by doing the following:

-Identify at least five strong beliefs that support your literacy philosophy.
-Base your personal philosophy on learning theories and literacy theories that shape your beliefs as a literacy leader.
-Describe the learning theory or theories that best support your philosophy and explain the literacy theory or theories that are logically connected to your learning theories.
-Write a short literature review regarding the characteristics of literacy programs or strategies that flow logically from your learning and literacy theories.
-Provide in-text citations for the sources that support your philosophy and thinking.

-Analysis of selected learning theories in support of personal philosophy of literacy.
-Analysis of selected literacy theories that are logically connected to the identified learning theories that consistently support a literacy philosophy.
-Application of learning and literacy theories in support of specific strategies that are consistent with the identified literacy theories.
-Written literature review identifying appropriate themes based on analysis of literacy theory and best practice.
