RUBRIC:- one possible form of what the final projects product/paper would look like, different
processes and different topics may conform to this or not, while you may try to aim for this division of content, it is not mandatory.
1- Introduction (explanation of case and topic, establishing a key interest or focus and why you are interested (relevancy &
Scope) Of particular note is to establish clear definitions of core elements, are you speaking about the whole world, one factory,
men and women, just children, all the forms of automation in the world or just this particular algorithm? YOU MUST Have citations
and support for the definitions and preferably reasons for the delimitint/inclusions-exclusions. Youve established what kind of
research this is so that the reader doesnt make mistakes of expectation or interpretation.
2- Context- Situation of the case and general background of that type of case and the situation the case is found in. Whats
included in the scope youve just narrowed down. You cant talk about just an object divorced from the world around it, or if you
do, explain why it is different from the contexts other parts.
3- Specific factual Case in Details, what do we know about who and how the actions took place, what effect or consequences
are specifically known if needed, what systems (e.g. licenses, professional duties, laws, etc) need to be included. This is where
you begin to shape the ethical case because you provide specific information differently if youre doing different ethical theories,
you dont need as many complex measures of effect here if youre focusing on Professional duties.
4- Specific Ethical Profile- One Action or Decision within the case, who, what, when why? Case in Detail- what can we know
about what ethical theory and did the actors in it follow the ethics they espouse? Additionally you should be laying out what other
ethics could apply.
5- Conclusion- Your ethical argument or Claim- YOU SAY someone in that particular kind of situation, should have acted In a
specific way, according to a specific Ethical theory, for a specific reason. Give your recommended Ethical Theory and an explanation
of how it would have directed the action of one of the people you establish in the ethical case. If you want to argue for a
generalizable rule or heuristic for similar situation + action events, do that argument here.
I have included an annotated bibliography, so the sources are already all laid out, I also included the original project proposal, so you can see the topic to write about. Please demonstrate terminology used in ethics and use ethical reasoning for case study.
