1. Essays will examine The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner, as well as secondary materials. In order for your essay to receive a C or better, you must incorporate both primary and secondary resources.
2. Essays will combine primary text (TLOTLDR) material with secondary, historical research in such a way that the research paper reader will gain a new understanding of Sillitoe’s story, as its seen through the eyes of your research of supplementary information, with a specific focus on some dimension of the history embedded in Sillitoe’s narrative.
3.Your chosen historical approach, while obviously applicable to the section of the book with which it corresponds (historically), must also reveal a larger significance that helps your reader understand its relevance to the rest of the bookthat is, how does the historical research you have done help us understand the entire text in a new or different way that helps illuminate the meaning of the entire book?Essays will employ the post-2016 MLA documentation style and proper conventions of attribution for borrowed information.
4. Essays will be 7-8 pages in length, not counting the Works Cited page.
5. Essays will have as a minimum number of sources as many sources as there 6. are pages of text in the essay (that is, a minimum of seven sources).
