This is a group project for a Communications course on Mass Communications.
Based on the readings and questions of journalistic integrity, responsibility, but yet reliance on corporations to fund media outlets. I suggest for TEAM TWO the following Research Question; What role does social media platforms (pedestrian journalism) play in keeping journalist and media outlets accountable.
Sub-Topics
– What has been the evolution of social media as news platforms? (Depict a blatant contradiction between media and social media post over 6-10 years old. Expound on it, give media response to call out)
-Has there been misinformation on popular news broadcast that can be easily depicted as false by an individuals social media post? (Recent misinformation on popular news channel by host, contradicted by many social media post)
-How has the public build greater trust in pedestrian journalism rather than conglomerates news corporations? (Successful indie/community funded news programs on YouTube/TikTok/blogger)
(THIS IS MY PORTION) When the public ‘catches’ politicians and media outlets coercing to fabricate a story to incriminate the victim more what is/should be the repercussions? (Police chiefs and mayor in bonding with news outlets tend to do this often after unwarranted shootings, what is usually the response, is it appropriate)
Each member should choose a subtopic of the research question by writing their name and the subtopic question in the comments section. Each memeber’s research should consist of a minimum of two references, one from an academic journal/textbook chapter/Assigned Readings and the other sourced. The references should be used to solidify and verify their research of the subtopic question. However, overarchingly contributing and answering the original research question. Each member is responsible for 600 words NOT including references
