Write a paper on how the pandemic and the subsequent recession affected the economy. You may choose a single state, a single country, or a group of states/countries to focus on. I encourage you to choose states of the US for data availability considerations. Also, if we cover a good number of states in this project, we can use the papers you write for comparing states with each other. Your chosen state/country should be approved by me. No two groups are allowed to focus on the same state/country. I will approve your requested focus state based on the availability of reliable data and the proposals submitted before you.
Your report should include, in part, an analysis of the severity of the pandemic and lockdowns, and an analysis of the important economic measures such as GDP, unemployment and labor force, and how these economic indicators were affected by the pandemic.
This report is where you provide the results of your research. I expect around five pages of written report for this project. You will use data sources and your knowledge of economics and general knowledge to describe and reflect on what you learn from economic impacts of the pandemic. I have provided some reliable sources for data below. I will help you for specific data sources if you reach out to me. Also, I will provide some written pieces by experts on how the economy is affected by the pandemic. You can use these resources to see how others have reflected ideas in the economic data onto their pieces. Your report should be evidence based. For what you analyze, you should use reliable data to support your claims. Clarity of the arguments you make is also very important. Please refer to rubrics provided in the Final Project module for detailed explanation of grading.
Submission of the final project should be through the “Final Project – Final report for the project” link below.
All reports will be checked by Turnitin upon submission. If Turnitin determines that more than 35% of your text is borrowed or copied from other sources, your grade for the final project will be zero. If it determines more than 50% of your report is borrowed or copied you fail the course. If the amount of borrowed or copied parts is less than 35%, you will lose contribution grade based on the judgment of the instructor. All group members are responsible for this.
The state my team choose was Wyoming and here are the sources the professor provided us to use
